![]() In the vanilla game it's a rare thing, but doing regular saves as described above might be a good preventive measure. Same goes for when I forget to wait before closing Steam.Īgain, this is just on my current mod. If it takes a long time, then I know I might find something missing when I log back in. I always do a 1-minute save before I exit the game, and if I did the saves correctly - usually every time my bag gets full or every time I send my pet to town with all the stuff I don't want - then the Steam save after I exit should only take a few seconds. I look at the name Torchlight II and wait for it to say 30%, 80%, 90% or whatever it's doing and when it's done with all that I know it's safe to close Steam or go to another game. My personal list of games is on the left side of my screen when I exit. Also, when I exit the game, I make sure to wait for Steam to finish doing it's save task. This mod has a ton of stuff dropping all the time, so I figure the game needs extra time to save all that info. ![]() I read a page in a book or something while I wait. ![]() I will hit the escape key or the tiny wrench on the top right of the screen and set a timer for 1 full minute. What I've learned to do to mitigate crashes and file deletion (sometimes the stash goes missing or sometimes a character disappears), is to save often. However, I'm too lazy for that on the mod I'm currently playing. I had storage characters for potions, weapons, gear, socketables, spells and tomes, and fish. Anything that didn't pertain to my current character was placed in the stash and inventory of those extra characters and over time I built up a lot of extra stuff that I stored in them in case the shared stash was wiped clean. On the vanilla game, I made extra characters just for storage. I've learned to accept the possible consequences and have taken some precautions with where I store stuff. The game will crash, or it will make my computer crash. I really like the mod so I keep playing it, even though it's been wiped out of the Steam mod catalog. ![]() On the current mod I am running it happens more often. On rare occasions with the vanilla game, yes. ![]()
